I have been very fortunate recently to meet some very incredible women who all have magnificent stories to tell of their journey seeking success and pursuing more fulfilling lives.
One such woman was Annette Janel who stepped away from the corporate world and drove solo around the world for one year. She did this without any of the modern technologies such as a mobile phone or laptop that would have enabled her to communicate with friends and family. She had just a good old fashioned compass and acquired road maps along the way.
Starting out in Munich, she travelled through many different countries to Shanghai and then on to the USA. Facing many obstacles as a woman travelling on her own, she did not let these obstacles stop her from achieving her goal.
I asked her whether her family and friends had tried to stop her from going and she told me that before setting off on her journey, friends and family tried to talk her out of it. However, she did not let them deter her from setting out to achieve what she desired.
Annette tells her story in her book ‘My Year of Beds’ which can be purchased from http://www.ajahnel.com/category/my-year-of-beds-2/.
Often we have a dream or vision of where we would like to be and that vision would allow us to fulfill our life purpose and find fulfillment. I believe everybody has a purpose in life but many do not find their purpose and live mediocre unfulfilled lives.
What causes us not to fulfill our purpose? Our heads are constantly filled with negative self talk, whether it be ourselves or the talk of those around us or even the media. Talk such as ‘you can’t’, or ‘you’re not good enough’, or ‘you will never be able to do that’ fill our minds until we start to believe it. We then do not pursue what we really desire because we lack the confidence to do so.
We stay in a place which is comfortable, doing what we have always done because we feel safe. However, our lives may feel empty or lacking in something and we do not get that fire in your belly that makes us excited and passionate about what we do.
You are all incredible with incredible stories to tell. Unfortunately, some of you do not recognise how incredible you actually are.
I attended the Inspirational Women’s Super Summit last night at Thompson Reuters in Canary Wharf and heard the stories of some incredible, successful women who had achieved amazing things in their careers and personal lives.
These women started from humble beginnings and overcame many obstacles along the way. One common theme amongst these women was their belief that they can do anything and that nothing is impossible to achieve.
The atmosphere was positively electrifying and being surrounded by such positive, inspiring women, only serves to uplift and motivate you.
If they can do it, so can you!
In each of you there is an incredible woman waiting to emerge. When are you going to unleash the incredible woman in you?
