Starting a Business

black business woman on a plane

Do you have dreams of giving up the day job?

Are you tired of the 9 to 5 and feel you would get more fulfillment running your own business?

Does the thought of starting a business seem exciting yet make you feel overwhelmed?

How I can help you

Making the transition form employment to self employment is very challenging but rewarding. It requires a shift in mindset and equipping yourself with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to create a viable business as opposed to an expensive hobby.

If you want to make this transition but don’t know where to start or are fearful of taking that step, I know how you feel because I’ve been there myself.  After 28 years in employment, I started my business at the age of 44.

I can support you by coaching and mentoring you through this transition, not only equipping you with the required mindset but also guiding you through the steps you need to take to get your business going.

I will help you to: -

  • Explore your business idea and ascertain whether it is viable
  • Guide you through business planning, business strategy, market research and marketing strategy
  • Be clear who your customer is and how you will find them
  • Help you to identify obstacles and how to overcome them
  • Develop an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Develop the skills required to run a business
  • Create your employment exit strategy

How this will help you

You will have a clear vision for your business and a plan of action as to how you will get started.  This will help you to:-

  • Be certain about your business idea
  • Be confident to pursue your idea
  • Get your business started
  • Know who your customers are and where you will find them
  • Know where to network and why
  • Know which is the right platform for you to showcase your business
  • Market your business
  • Get clients
  • Carry out your employment exit strategy
  • Move from idea to implementation

Who is this suitable for?

Women who are tired of the 'politics' of employment and want to be their own boss and move from employment to self employment.

This is particularly suitable for women who are unfulfilled in their work, want to make a career change at mid life and/or want to do work that is authentic to who they are and realise that the best way for them to do this is to start their own business.

If you are facing redundancy (whether voluntary or involuntary) and want this to be the catapult to get your business started, this is ideal for you.

How much does it cost?

Details of my fees for individual services can be found here.

How long does the coaching last?

Clients typically work with me for 6 months. This enables them to fully embed the new behaviours and changes they want to make.

What others have said

Catherine

"It has been a very rewarding experience to have engaged Abounding Solutions coaching service. Carol provided excellent support and guidance as I considered which direction to take at a particular juncture in my career.

I became a self-employed sole practitioner after having been made redundant in 2010. Three years later, with my workload diminishing, I was presented with an opportunity to apply for a full time job similar to the role I had previously been made redundant from.

Immediately, I realised the impact of having been made redundant three years earlier upon my confidence, on one hand to make an application for the post, and on the other, that this level of self-doubt was also impacting upon my ability to grow my own professional practice.

Through Carol’s astute mind for business, I am now working with a clear direction for my own practice, with confidence in the value of my skills and services. Furthermore, Carols unique coaching skills, has equipped me with a reorganised and everlasting mind set to overcome peaks and troughs in confidence, which had previously prohibited me from fully enjoying my work.

Carol has been extremely enjoyable to work with, and I have found her assistance invaluable." Catherine Thompson of Catherine Thompson Consultancy, Wales, http://www.catherinethompsonconsultant.net

"Carol showed more than a professional interest in my business needs and I attribute her with propelling me forward when I was losing momentum. As a bit of a sceptic Carol convinced me of the transformative powers of good coaching.”
